The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) is Australia’s largest national union and professional nursing and midwifery organisation. The ANMF is the union for registered nurses, enrolled nurses, midwives, and assistants in nursing doing nursing work in every state and territory throughout Australia.
In collaboration with the ANMF’s eight state and territory branches, we represent the professional, industrial and political interests of more than 275,000 nurses, midwives and carers across the country.
Universal healthcare and high quality patient care is central to what we do as nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing. Current threats to Medicare and proposed co-payments for healthcare are a great concern to the ANMF. We will fight to ensure that Medicare remains free for all Australians, and that politicians and health bureaucrats understand that more funding for healthcare, not less, should be a priority.
