The Queensland Nurses Union launched their community campaign to 'Save Eventide' on Saturday as it confirmed an aged care home at Kingaroy is also earmarked for closure.
About a 150 people gathered at Sandgate town hall to protest against recent decisions to force elderly people out of state government nursing homes.
The 140 residents at Eventide Aged Care Campus at Brighton will begin to be moved from the home next month.
At today's event, Eventide residents, their families, staff and community members were told by the Queensland Nurses Union that aged care facility Farrhome at Kingaroy, owned by the state government, will be shut in June 2014.
"The Union fears for the future of every one of the 21 state government nursing homes across Queensland," the union's secretary Beth Mohle said.
Ms Mohle said that the union would come face-to-face with Premier Campbell Newman and other state ministers at a community cabinet meeting in Kingaroy on Tuesday.
