The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) is focused on driving meaningful change to ensure better conditions for nurses, midwives, carers, students and to meet the health and aged care needs of the community.

Workforce Reform

Nursing, midwifery, and care worker reform requires strategic planning, improved education, and policy changes to address workforce shortages.

Aged Care Reform

Following years of neglect, significant aged care reforms in 2023 marked a turning point in the nation’s commitment to ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality care for our elderly Australians.

Healthcare Equity

Ensuring equitable access to healthcare means that every Australian, irrespective of their socioeconomic status, geographical location, or other factors, has the capacity to access essential health services when and where they need them.

Gender Equity

Supporting ANMF’s predominately female membership, the union has strongly lobbied over many years for changes to support equality and close the existing disparity.

IR Reform

IR reform is essential to ensure fair pay, security and safety for workers. In conjunction with other unions and stakeholders the ANMF has been a constant force in supporting legislative change.

Climate Change and Social Justice

The ANMF participates in policy, advocacy, research, and education to mitigate the effects of climate change and works towards reducing inequity for healthier communities.
